Ring a Day #39 Drawplate Ring

Challenge #39
Created Feb 8
When I decided to make the lichen ring->
I just grabbed the first wood I saw on my bench for the ring part- which happened to be my drawplate for hand knit chain. I later thought that it would be a pretty schnazzy ring in and of itself!

Sterling Silver Scribble Ring with bezel set dark green tourmaline

RAD 38

Challenge #38
Created Feb 7
Way back in the day when I was doing that cuttle fish bone casting from RAD 33 I made this awesome blob.  I had way over-guestimated how much metal I would need for the cuttlefish casting so when I poured it, it overflowed into the annealing pan filled with volcanic rock that was balancing the bone.  Over the years I’ve chipped out the bits of rock and ended up with this here fabulous blob!

RAD 35 and 36

Challenge #35

okay, confession time.  This ring is not actually finished.  It’s a maquette for a potential client made of pieces I had around and sticky wax.  I’m hoping she goes for this variation, ’cause It thought it looked spankin’, but I don’t want to put it all together until it’s all decided (so I don’t have to take parts apart)

Johnsonite Inertia Multi-Functional and Sports Flooring sample with sterling silver rivet

I picked up this great flooring sample at MECCA for a steal.  If you need inspiration in Eugene, they have an ample supply on the serious cheap!

Would you like that giftwrapped?

At work we always end up with a small strip of super pretty paper left over on a certain size of box.  I used mine this day to make Ring a Day 34!

RAD 32 Pance!

I’ve been getting a little behind in updating my blog so you’ll  get to see a whole bunch of new ones today!

Here goes!

Pance

Pance

I spent much of the day in front of the sewing maching working on a new costume piece.  I finished the top, so I thought I’d throw together some pants;)

RAD 26

Finally some enamel!
Finally some enamel!

It’s Tuesday!  I teach an enameling class at the Craft Center tonight:)  I have a few new ideas to share from this project.

It’s a gorgeous color, right? That’s because it’s leaded! *gasp!*
I usually avoid leaded enamels, but I have a few samples around and sometimes Danger is my middle name.
Okay, okay… I wetpacked, and didn’t sift, so maybe Tentative Adventure is my middle name.

Out of Gas*

Ring a Day 24

Ring a Day 24

Created Jan. 24

I finally had a whole day to sit down at the bench!  It was terribly exciting!
I had an idea; I started to make it; I went to turn on the torch; and I’d left the oxygen on…would have been no big deal if there wasn’t a leak at my flashback arrestors!
 ARG!
My gas peeps are closed on Sunday, so instead I dug out an old casting and put some tourmaline in it….
after sulking for a while.

*The title of one of my very favorite episodes of a favorite TV show.  Bonus points if you can name it!

I am finding myself increasingly jealous of people who manage to sit at the bench every day.  This day I painted the bedroom.  It looks RAD!
